UNITED NATIONS: Lakhdar Brahimi told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday he was “honoured,flattered,humbled and scared” at the prospect of leading efforts to broker peace in Syria. Brahimi met Ban a week after agreeing to replace Kofi Annan as UN and Arab League envoy on Syria. “When you called me I told you I was honoured,flattered,humbled and scared. I am still in that frame of mind,” Brahimi told Ban.

Several militant websites affiliated with al-Qaeda,including Al-Fidaa,posted Bissonnette’s name and photo and called for his “destruction”.

Kidney for US patient’s transplant put in trash

TOLEDO: A nurse accidentally disposed of a kidney from a living donor this month at a US hospital,and doctors tried unsuccessfully to revive the organ in what medical experts describe as a rare accident. “Human error rendered the kidney unusable,” University of Toledo Medical Center spokesman Toby Klinger said Saturday. Dr David Grossman,a County health commissioner,said the man had donated the kidney to his sister.
