JD-U MLA injured in landmine blast

PATNA: JD-U MLA Randhir Kumar Soni was injured in a landmine blast in the Naxal-hit area of Shekhpura on Saturday evening. The incident took place at around 8.15 pm near Morarpur village when the MLA was crossing a road. The MLA suffered a leg injury. Two of his supporters were also injured in the blast.

Prithvi-II test successful

BALASORE: The nuclear-capable Prithvi-II ballistic missile with a strike range of 350 km was on Saturday successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur as part of user trial by the Army. “It was a perfect launch. All the mission objectives were accomplished,” ITR Director M V K V Prasad said.

Behmai massacre: 4 men charged

KANPUR (UP): A local court chargesheeted four members of a gang led by bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi for the killing of 20 people at Behmai village in 1981. The four — Bhikha,Posha,Vishwanath and Ram Singh — were part of the gang that had held 20 Thakurs of the village at gunpoint and killed them. The court also issued non-bailable warrants against three other accused.

EC restores 2 Cong MLAs’ membership

BHOPAL: The state Election Commission on Saturday restored the membership of two Congress MLAs,Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi and Kalpana Parulekar,on the Election Commission of India’s orders. Their membership was terminated after an Assembly resolution against Opposition members’ unruly behaviour in the House.
