In a breakthrough in the Kunda triple murder case, the CBI on Sunday arrested two men for killing Balipur village pradhan Nanhe Yadav and seized two .315 bore country-made rifle and matching empty cartridges.
Those arrested are Ajay Pal and his brother Vijay Pal,sons of Kamta Pal with whom Yadav had a property dispute. The arrests were made following interrogation of the accused at the CBIs camp office in Kunda. They will be produced before the CBI court in Lucknow on Monday and the investigating officer will seek their custody in order to collect information about their associates, said an official.
The CBI is probing the murders of Yadav, his brother Suresh and Kunda circle officer DSP Ziaul Haque, all of which took place on March 2. CBI chief information officer Dharini Mishra said the team has also recovered SIM cards which were used in the conspiracy. Mishra said the empty shells and SIM cards have revealed direct involvement of Ajay and Vijay in the pradhans murder, but investigation is going on to unravel the larger conspiracy behind the murder.
The case registered in pradhans murder had named Ajay,Kamta, besides former Uttar Pradesh minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyyas driver Guddu Singh and his brothers Rajeev and Ajit. The case lodged in the murder of Suresh had named Vijay, his nephew Sanjay,Guddu and latters aide Raj Kumar Pasi. Guddu and Rajeev have already been arrested.
Sources said that questioning of eyewitnesses and subsequent interrogation of Ajay and Vijay showed their direct link to the shootout in which pradhan was shot dead. Sources added that direct involvement of Kamta has not surfaced so far.
The accused allegedly planned the pradhans murder after Yadav and Suresh, along with their associates, attacked Kamtas house on the occasion of his grandson Sanjays marriage in February and humiliated him in the presence of his relatives.
