Two days after a daring escape by six SIMI activists from Khandwa jail, the Madhya Pradesh Police are not sure if they have fled the state or are still holed up there.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Chief Secretary Anthony J C DeSa and DGP Nandan Dubey Wednesday to figure out the progress in the investigation.

Investigators admitted they are yet to establish if the SIMI activists had local support before or after the escape, which seemed to have been elaborately planned.

Jail officials defended the decision to lodge the activists, facing trial for killing an ATSp constable,in the ill-equipped Khandwa jail, claiming that a local court had issued orders to that effect.
