Police said they have traced CCTV footage showing journalist M A Kazmi at least twice with an Iranian national — one of the three Iranians against whom a court issued non-bailable arrest warrants yesterday — at a hotel in Paharganj.

Kazmi, arrested in connection with the sticky bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat, was aware of the plan by these three Iranian nationals to strike in the capital, police said, although he may not have been aware of who the target was.

The footage is from four days before the February 13 attack. While the owner of the hotel on Arakshan Road in Paharganj denied that any foreign national had checked in,he said his staff had handed over the CCTV recording to the police “around 7-10 days ago.”

Sources said the footage shows Kazmi meeting one of the Iranians at least twice. Police are also probing money transfers into Kazmi’s two bank accounts.

Meanwhile,Kazmi’s family moved a petition in a city court alleging that he was being forced to “confess,” said his son,Turab.

“My father is being threatened…other family members are also being harassed by the police. We don’t know any of the Iranians,” he said.
