JPC to summon Raja,Behura

Raja,Behura and Raja’s secretary RK Chandolia were arrested by the CBI on February 2,2011 on charges of cheating,forgery,criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct.

Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the 2G scam has decided to summon former telecom minister A Raja and former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura,the committee’s chairman P C Chacko said Wednesday.

“We have decided to send for both Raja and Behura,” Chacko said after a meeting of the committee,which is looking into the 2G allocation scam as well as the policies followed for allocation and pricing of the spectrum between 1989 and 2009.

Raja,Behura and Raja’s secretary RK Chandolia were arrested by the CBI on February 2,2011 on charges of cheating,forgery,criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct.

Behura,who is currently in Tihar jail,will be directed to depose before the committee on April 11,Chacko said,adding he would write to the jail authorities to facilitate his presence. However,no date has been fixed for Raja yet.

Last year,the JPC had decided to call for deposition all former telecom ministers between 1989 and 2009,including Dayanidhi Maran,Beni Prasad Verma,Ram Vilas Paswan and Arun Shourie.
