J’khand Cabinet fires 125 doctors who have never been to work

The Jharkhand Cabinet on Monday decided to fire 125 doctors who have not worked for even a day since their appointment.

The Jharkhand Cabinet on Monday decided to fire 125 doctors who have not worked for even a day since their appointment in 2009. “We sent them reminders,but to no avail,” Health Minister Rajendra Prasad said. Though exact numbers are unavailable,the state faces an acute shortage of doctors. “We have been told we cannot appoint more without removing these 125 off the payroll. The vacancies will be filled soon – 209 doctors will be hired by September and 900 will be appointed by November,” he said.
