A senior J&K government official was allegedly thrashed by a minister in Omar Abdullah’s Cabinet and ruling National Conference workers in public at Kishtwar Thursday morning.

Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo allegedly thrashed Riyaz Ahmed who is the Chief Executive Officer of Kishtwar Development Authority.

“I have formally lodged a complaint with the police against the minister and his supporters,’’ Ahmed told The Indian Express over phone.

Sources said that Kitchloo along with some National Conference workers arrived at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and asked for Ahmed who was not present there as he was making arrangements for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit.

However,on being informed of Kitchloo’s arrival,he rushed to the TRC. On reaching the spot,Ahmed was allegedly slapped by Kitchloo. When he resisted,Kitchloo’s supporters also joined in and allegedly beat him up.

Senior police officers including Kishtwar’s Senior SP Bhim Sen Tuti were unavailable for comment. Kitchloo too was not available on phone.
