A day after news portal Cobrapost went public with a sting operation showing 11 Members of Parliament expressing willingness to take bribe, the JD(U) on Friday issued show-cause notices to three members and asked them to clarify their position by the end of the week.
According to the operation, the MPs were ready to write letters of recommendation and lobby for a fictitious foreign oil company for a fee ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 50 lakh.
JD(U) general secretary and Rajya Sabha member K C Tyagi said the party had informed its members that it was taking serious note of the sting operation.
The notices said,Party chief Sharad Yadav has considered it a betrayal of JD(U)s basic principles and philosophy… The party was formed on the foundation of fight against corruption.
The JD(U) has told the MPs to clarify their position by the deadline, failing which, the party will be forced to take a serious decision.
Apart from the three JD(U) MPs,two AIADMK,three BJP,two Congress and one BSP MP were caught on the Cobrapost tape.
