I visited India in 1986. Since then,in a short span of 27 years,India has undergone enormous changes and the country is now beaming with vitality. In recent years in particular, under the leadership of Prime Minister Singh,India has vigorously pushed forward reforms, actively raised peoples livelihood, achieved significant economic and social progress and steadily enhanced Indias international influence. I admire India for such great achievements.
The China-India relationship is now in its best period in history. China always sees India as a good neighbour,a sincere friend and an important partner of mutually beneficial cooperation. The new government of China will continue to take relations with India as a priority in its foreign policy.
I have chosen India as the first stop of my first overseas visit in order to demonstrate Chinas sincere commitment to deepen solidarity and cooperation with India for the benefit of the common development.
This morning, during my talks with Prime Minister Singh,we discussed bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields and had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest. Our talks have produced broad consensus and fruitful results. This fully testifies to the confidence and resolve of both sides to further consolidate and strengthen China-India friendship and cooperation.
China-India are next-door neighbours. We both are major emerging economies committed to modernisation and national revival.
I see a lot of incentives and new opportunities between our two countries.
I hope that the two sides will work together to steadily advance the China-India strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity. It is my deep conviction that China-India relations will embrace an ever bright future.
