India,Russia to hold first ever joint Air Force exercises

The venue of the first ever air exercise between the two nations has not been firmed up yet.

India and Russia will carry out their first ever joint Air Force exercises next year along with a large scale naval exercise in the sea of Japan,the two countries decided during Defence Minister A K Antony’s ongoing visit to Moscow. He is in the capital for the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) meeting.

In the meeting,the strategic partnership between the two nations,including projects like the fifth generation fighter aircraft program,were discussed.

Significantly,the two sides decided to conduct thier naval exercise in the Sea of Japan next year,a region where the Chinese Navy operates extensively. The venue of the first ever air exercise between the two nations has not been firmed up yet.

Last month,army level exercises were conducted in India,signifying that Russia is scaling up its presence as a military training partner.
