In a partial reprieve for actor John Abraham, the Bombay High Court on Monday released him on probation under the Probation of Offenders Act,1958,in a rash driving case. It,however, upheld the verdict of the trial court that had pronounced him guilty in the 2006 case.

Abraham has been asked to pay a bond of Rs 10,000. He has also been asked to pay Rs 10,000 each as compensation within a week to two persons injured in the incident.

While granting Abraham probation, the court noted that he had not been involved in any such incident earlier. However,it observed that if Abraham did lose control of his motorbike and hit people,it made for a case for rash driving. “There is no ground made out to set aside the conviction,” the HC said.
