Gujarat BJP minority wing chief Salot dies

HAJI Kader Salot,51,who was recently appointed president of the BJP’s Gujarat unit minority cell,died in a Surat hospital at 4:45 am on Monday.

HAJI Kader Salot,51,who was recently appointed president of the BJP’s Gujarat unit minority cell,died in a Surat hospital at 4:45 am on Monday. He suffered a severe heart attack and was shifted to the hospital from Circuit House. Salot was also the vice-chairman of the Gujarat Minorities Finance and Development Corporation. Hours before his death,Salot,who belongs to Rajkot,was celebrating CM Narendra Modi’s appointment as the BJP’s campaign committee chairman with party workers.

Salot was appointed president of the BJP’s state Minority Morcha on April 30,following BJP’s success in the municipal elections. His body was taken to Rajkot for the last rites. Hours before his death,Salot had spoken with The Indian Express. “The popularity of Narendra Modi is growing nationally not only among Hindus,but also Muslims. The clerics from 25 national Muslims religious institutions contacted me and showed interest in extending a hand of friendship to Modi. They all are eager to meet him and we have planned a meeting,” he had said. “On Sunday,I received congratulatory messages from ulemas of the US,the UK and South Africa who extended support to Modi,” he had added.
