The Delhi Election Commission on Friday ordered that re-polling at one booth in the Jangpura Assembly constituency be held on Saturday. The decision was taken after it was found that the presiding officer of the booth did not clear the EVM memory after the mock poll on the morning of December 4,before the actual voting process started.

“Re-polling will be done in booth number 42 in Jangpura Assembly constituency from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday,” Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev said.

The Jangpura constituency has a total of 1,29,011 voters,of which 79,912 had voted on December 4,taking the voter turnout to 61.94 per cent. Polling booth number 41,located inside the MCD Primary Co-ed School in Sarai Kale Khan, has a total of 692 voters.

“Re-polling is being done because the presiding officer forgot to clear the EVM after mock poll on the morning of December 4. The local residents will be informed by drum beats and loudspeakers,” an election official said.
