Frenchman flees Nigeria captors,returns home

A 63-year-old French who escaped from his captors in northern Nigeria has returned home to France.

A 63-year-old French engineer who escaped from his captors in northern Nigeria after 11 months as a hostage has returned home to France.

Francis Collomp was welcomed by Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on the tarmac at Villacoublay military airport before dawn Monday,a day after he escaped by motorcycle in the northern Nigeria state of Kaduna.

French media said Collomp – who reportedly had triple-bypass surgery years ago – was undergoing a medical exam in Paris.

Some 30 men stormed Collomp’s home on December 19,2012,abducting him and killing a neighbour and a security guard. Boko Haram splinter group Ansaru claimed responsibility.

Boko Haram,the extremist group that claimed responsibility,is Nigerian.
