In a suspected case of honour killing,a 19-year-old girl was allegedly strangled to death in her sleep by her father and uncle for wanting to marry a boy from another caste. They had reportedly dumped her body the railway track. The incident took place on March 13 in Jalgaon district.

The police started a probe on April 4 after they received a call from an unidentified person and a letter. Thakur said: “The letter said that Manisha had gone missing since last three weeks and it was suspected that she was murdered by her family for having an affair.” The police got to know that Manisha was in a relationship with Sandeep Patil.

Thakur said,“Sandeep told us that two days before Manisha went missing,Yuvraj had beaten him and threatening to him. He said Manisha was beaten up and Yuvraj threatened to kill her too. Surprisingly, the family did not lodge a missing complaint.”
