The Karnataka Police have arrested a seller of explosives in connection with the May 10,2008 blast at a Hubli court, which is now linked to Hindu radical elements, and seized 950 kg of ammonium nitrate.

The police said they had arrested Hussainsab Meersagar at Indi in Bijapur district on the basis of information provided by some of the arrested accused in the case. “Meersagar sold the explosives to Nagaraj Jambagi, the prime accused in the case who has a history of association with groups like Sri Rama Sene. We are still investigating the sources of Meersagar’s supply,” said Police Commissioner N Shivakumar.

However, the police said they did not see any role for Meersagar in the blasts conspiracy beyond selling the explosives, though they added 950 kg of ammonium nitrate, which is used in fertilisers and other activities, was too much for one person to hold.
