Shortly after he was expelled from the Congress,Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav — brother-in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad — on Monday projected Narendra Modi as a “backward leader” and vowed to campaign for him in the 2014 general elections. He also argued that the 2002 Gujarat riots was an “old issue” and claimed “Muslim brothers” will vote for Modi.

A few days after the former Gopalganj MP met Modi and termed him better PM material than Rahul Gandhi,Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday expelled him from primary membership of the party.

Yadav said his meeting with Modi, which led to his expulsion from the Congress, was a result of an invitation from the Gujarat CM. “He wanted to meet me. I tried to delay it by two weeks, but I agreed and went to have a tea with him,” he said. Yadav said he and Modi had been in touch for some time and argued there were no “mediators” between them.

Talking to The Indian Express after the news of his expulsion came in,Yadav praised Modi and hit out at the Gandhi family. Sonia and Rahul,he said, were inaccessible. Yadav dismissed Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi’s statement that he was unwelcome in the party. Sources, said he was eying to contest from Siwan, which has a sizeable Yadav population and abuts Gopalganj that was represented by him in the past but is now a reserved seat.
