The domestic aviation sector continued on the growth path with air passenger numbers rising by over 13 per cent in September.

The domestic aviation sector continued on the growth path with air passenger numbers rising by over 13 per cent in September.

All six domestic carriers in the country flew over 4.5 million passengers in September as compared to over 4 million during the same period last year.

The data for September released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) showed that IndiGo continued its lead in the market over other domestic carriers by carrying over 30 per cent of the total passengers during the month.

The Jet Group,Which operates Jet Airways and JetLite,flew 24.6 per cent of the total market followed by Air India that flew around 20.3 per cent of the market.

SpiceJet carried 17.3 per cent of the total passengers flown in September followed by GoAir,which carried 7.5 per cent of the total flyers during the month.
