A day after the deadline set by the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) for a tripartite meeting with the Centre ended without response, the body announced that it would resume its agitation for a separate Bodo state.

On Wednesday, the ABSU called for a mass rally and 24-hour hungerstrike to be held the following week,a 24-hour highway blockade on August 28 and 24-hour

railway blockade on September 10.

ABSU president Pramod Boro said the body also supported a 100-hour highway blockade on August 16 called by the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Progressive.

“We are compelled to resume our agitation as chief minister Tarun Gogoi failed to keep his word of arranging a tripartite meeting by August 13,” Boro said.
