After Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, his son Akhilesh Yadav Saturday targeted the Congress, alleging that whoever does not act as per its wishes faces “persecution” through the CBI.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister claimed that the UPA will suffer a heavy defeat in the next Lok Sabha election due to “widespread dissatisfaction” among the electorate.

He,however, made it clear that his party “will continue to support the UPA government to keep communal forces at bay” even as he asserted that “we are fully prepared for the elections, whenever they take place”.

On Mulayam’s statement that the election could be held as early as November,he said the “political developments and media reports hint at such a possibility”. Mulayam had said,“Congress used to take support by threatening. I supported the UPA government in bad times but Congress has put CBI after me.”

Reacting to BJP’s charge that the SP was supporting the UPA because it feared CBI action against some of its top leaders,Akhilesh evaded a direct reply but said “it is a fact that anybody who does not act according to the wishes of the Congress party, faces persecution through CBI”.
