The BJP has termed the Congress manifesto as a “pack of lies” and “a document of deception”. The party has said the “Government should have presented an audit report of its performance before making future promises”.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday,BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said,“The Congress manifesto is not only a pack of lies but is a document of deception…it was obligatory to demonstrate at least what has been concretely done…there is no audit report of its exact performance. Now vague illusory promises are being made for the future.”

“The Congress claims to be the only party with a liberal outlook which will safeguard secularism. But it is a party which has an alliance with Muslim League responsible for the division of the country,” he said, adding that the “Prime Minister had said Muslims have the first right to resources of the country and was also dilly-dallying on execution of sentence of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru”.

The BJP spokesperson claimed that the Congress was being deserted by its allies like Left parties,RJD,LJP,Samajwadi Party and PMK. “Where is the UPA? Does it still exist,or has it withered away,” he said, adding that the Congress had allies only in West Bengal,Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The BJP also rubbished the Congress Government’s flagship programme NREGS. “It was found that barely 3.2 per cent of the registered households could get employment for 100 days. The average employment provided was just 18 days,” he claimed.
