Opening the Congress campaign in Madhya Pradesh,Rahul Gandhi on Thursday called the ruling Shivraj Singh Chouhan government a university of corruption.
Addressing a rally in Gwalior, the Congress vice-president brought the youth to the forefront in yet another speech and said that unless the young enter politics, the country would not progress. In a rally in Rampur this month,he had said that the next government would be a young government.
Speaking to close to one lakh people at Gwaliors mela ground,Rahul said,These people (the BJP) keep saying corruption, corruption, corruption. Have they looked at their own state. Madhya Pradesh is a paathshaala,a school, and a university of corruption. The sand mafia rules here, and when we try and introduce the Land Bill for reform, they opposed it, he said.
Attacking the BJPs development model,Rahul said that BJP has not been able to understand that India is not a country of bridges, roads and airports, but a country of people.
They talk of development, but they ignore hunger, and unemployment. Humaara dil dukhta hai jab koi bhuka jaata hai,vo haste hai. Which is why we gave you rights, said Rahul, referring to the passage of the Right to Food,Education,Information and land acquisition bills.
He further said,Scindia sahab (Jyotiraditya Scindia) has told me that your government has signed one lakh crore worth MOUs. Completion is zero. During the five years of the NDA,2,650 km of roads were built, but 9,570 were built during the UPA. But we dont talk about all this,we care about people. For the first time in the country nobody will go hungry, and will get four times the price for their land. And they opposed all this.
Hitting out at his critics,Rahul defended himself against those who laugh whenever youth politics was given importance. But I will tell you now, unless the youth come into politics, into the Lok Sabha, this country will not move forward. These politicians want their own coteries to continue, but the youth must fight, and we will fight with you, he said.
Despite Scindias face on every banner at the rally venue, and speeches by local partymen declaring him as the next Chief Minister,Rahul himself made no such assurances. The elections are coming, and a Congress sarkaar will come. I want to tell you, that no matter who leads it,the people will be respected, he said.
