Chinese President Hu Jintao Sunday invoked “Father of the Nation” Sun Yat-sen to again seek “peaceful” reunification with arch rival Taiwan, saying time had come to heal “wounds of the past” to achieve China’s rejuvenation. He said peaceful reunification would best serve the interests of all Chinese, including Taiwan compatriots.

Speaking at an impressive ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution that ended China’s imperial history,Hu also rejected Taiwan’s bid for independence. China sees Taiwan as a rebel province that must be reunified with the mainland,by force if necessary.
