Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s former security guard Salimraj, who had been fired from the chief minister’s staff in the wake of the solar panel scam, was arrested on charges of bid to abduct a woman.

Salimraj and a group of five men were held in Kozhikode after they chased a car and forcibly pulled out a man from Kollam district who had eloped with a woman related to Salimraj’s friend. While the woman’s family had filed a missing person complaint with the police,Salimraj along with a group of five men were on their own mission to find the woman.

The police said Salimraj was caught by locals who saw the group chasing down the car. They have filed several cases against him and his five accomplices.

Salimraj,a long-time aide of Chandy, had been suspended following the emergence of the solar panel scam. The police have also recommended slapping a vigilance case against Salimraj in alleged land fraud cases.
