Centre,states get SC notices on nurses’ plea

Nurses across the country knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court on Monday alleging bonded labour,increased risk of sexual harassment at workplace,and harsh rules of appointment by hospitals.

A three-judge Bench,led by Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia,issued formal notices to the Centre and all state governments on a petition filed by the Indian Professional Nurses Association (IPNA) describing troubles faced by nurses.

The IPNA,in its plea,mentioned a 22-year-old nurse,who committed suicide after she was allegedly harassed by hospital authorities,among others.
