The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Symbiosis Institute of Geo-Informatics (SIG) will organise a workshop on forests,environment and wildlife at the SIG campus,on August 21 under the aegis of the Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG),Pune chapter alongwith the Indian Water Resources Society. The workshop will focus on the amalgamation of Forestry Research and Geomatics Technology,said a press release issued here.
The gathering planned with scientists,researchers,academicians,students and decision makers will help review the road travelled so far in solving this crisis. The thought behind the workshop is to bring together people who can make a difference and showcase the various significant researches that are going on in the country under one platform. This platform for ideas and facts is envisaged to not only help everyone gauge the situation but also will help design the future,said the release.
Eminent environmentalists and scientists like Dr. Mohan Dharia,Padma Bhushan Prof Madhav Gadgil,Prof PS Roy,Dr Erach Bharucha,Dr Arvind Zha and several others will share their views during the workshop. There will also be a panel discussion on the theme of social forestry,which will be open to all. A Scientific Cartoon Poster competition for school students has also been arranged on the theme of Environment,the release said.
