BSF team back after 5-day meet with Pak Rangers

A Border Security Force delegation led by Director-General Subhash Joshi returned to India through the Attari border after a five-day bi-annual meeting with Pak Rangers led by their D-G Tahir Javed Khan. The meeting was held at Lahore from December 24 to December 28 as the D-Gs of both sides held face-to-face talks after one-and-a-half years.

“The meeting was held in a cordial,positive and constructive atmosphere. Both D-Gs showed their commitment to maintain sanctity on the international border and re-energize existing mechanisms. Consensus was developed to utilise available communication channels more effectively to control violations at the zero line. They reiterated resolve and commitment to continue efforts to ensure peace and tranquility on the border,” said a statement released by BSF.

“Both sides agreed on zero tolerance for smuggling,infiltration. At the same time it was agreed that inadvertent crossers would be returned immediately,” the statement added.
