Syria peace talks planned for Nov 23: Arab League chief

Cairo: A keenly anticipated peace conference for Syria will convene in Geneva on November 23,Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi said Sunday after meeting international peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. He acknowledged that there were still obstacles to holding the conference,as Western and Arab governments attempt to persuade Syrian oppostion to attend. PTI

Suicide car bomb kills 35 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD: A suicide bomber driving a car packed with explosives blew himself up outside a cafe in a mainly Shi’ite district of the Iraqi capital on Sunday,killing at least 35 people,police and medics said. The explosion took place in the Amil neighborhood of Baghdad. reuters

Kano: Boko Haram gunmen dressed in military uniform Sunday killed 19 people near the Nigerian border with Cameroon. The gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs blocked the highway near Logumani,shooting and hacking to death 19 motorists and burning three trucks. PTI
