Kerala sex scandal: Man gets life in jail
THIRIVANANTHAPURAM: A special court in Kochi on Thursday sentenced on Sudheer to life imprisonment after he was found guilty for sexually exploiting his minor daughter and later running an inter-state sex racket using her. 80 of the 130 accused,which included female pimps,have been arrested. Apart from the girls father,some local politicians,the police,doctors and NRIs have also been accused.
Bhanot: In CWG,had no financial power
NEW DELHI: Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot,an accused in the a Games-related corruption case,has told a Delhi court that no financial power had been accorded to him and that he only had to coordinate with others. Special CBI Judge Talwant Singh is currently hearing arguments to frame charges against Bhanot,and eight others,including former CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi.
Sibal inaugurates anti-ragging portal
NEW DELHI: Minister for Human Resource and Development Kapil Sibal inaugurated an Anti-Ragging Web Portal here on Thursday. Developed by the University Grants Commission in collaboration with Ed.CIL(India) Ltd. and Planet E-Com Solution,the portal is a medium for managing complaints,displaying reports,enhanced communication with colleges and universities and developing data sets.
