Howitzers tender scrapped again

NEW DELHI: Government has scrapped an army tender worth over Rs 4,600 crore to procure 180 self-propelled howitzers,the fourth such cancellation,and initiated a fresh process in this regard. The tender issued two years back was cancelled recently following complaints of snag in the guns of one of the two companies. The two companies include Konstrukta of Slovakia and Rheinmetall of Germany.

House of I&B official burgled

New Delhi: The house of an official of Information and Broadcasting Ministry was burgled in South Delhi on Thursday. Police said cash and jewellery was found missing from Pradeep Joshi’s house in Lodhi Colony. Neighbours alerted the police after they noticed the lock on the main door was broken. Joshi had left for office and his wife was not at home.

Bus strike hits normal life Karnataka

BANGALORE: The indefinite strike launched on Thursday by employees of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation for wage revision has hit normal life across the state. The Government has threatened to invoke ESM A if the strike is not called off. The Labour Commissioner has declared the strike as “illegal” under the Industrial Disputes Act 1947,said Transport Minister R Ashoka after a meeting with top officials of the transport department.
