ED summons Ramdev aide Balkrishna
NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Ramdevs aide Balkrishna on January 10,in connection with a foreign exchange violation case registered against his trusts. The ED had registered a case on the basis of a report from the RBI for export outstanding of few crores by the trusts run by Ramdev and inputs by some banks which were instrumental in channelising transactions. Also under the scanner is the Little Cumbrae Island,off the fishing town of Largs in Scotland,which serves as Ramdevs base overseas and also as a wellness centre.
3 held in money exchange racket
PATNA: The Bihar police have busted a money exchange racket along the Indo-Nepal border with the arrest of two Indians and a citizen of Nepal at Forbesganj in Araria district. The police seized 27 ATM cards and Rs 70,000 from the trio,who were trying to withdraw money from an SBI ATM. According to the police,Indian currency is fetching an exchange premium of Rs 40 per Rs 1,000 as against bank rate of Rs 3 in Nepal. Of the 27 ATM cards seized,24 were of SBI,and one each of UCO Bank,Bank of India and Indian Bank.
Sinclair takes over as NCERT director
NEW DELHI: Parvin Sinclair has taken charge as Director,National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). A professor of mathematics,she has served as Pro V-C of IGNOU for over four years. An alumnus of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research,IIT-Delhi and University of Delhi,she has a vast experience in the field of education,especially in mathematics and distance learning.
Anna fast: MMRDA refuses rent refund
Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Tuesday conveyed to the India Against Corruption (IAC) that it cannot refund any part of the total rent paid for Anna Hazares protest at the Bandra-Kurla Complex ground,after the three-day protest was cut short by a day. Hazare had cancelled the last day,of his three-day fast,in view of his ill health on December 30.
