Abductor of Malkangiri collector held

MALKANGIRI: A woman Maoist,allegedly involved in the abduction of former Malkangiri district collector R Vineel Krishna in February last year,was arrested on Sunday,the police said. Divya alias Wallasi (26) was nabbed during a joint operation by BSF and district police near Janbai here. She was working as an ‘area commander’ of the Maoist group for the past 11 years under Galikonda Naxal division,the police said. Divya was also allegedly involved in the killing of 36 police personnel on a motorised vessel in the Balimela reservoir,the police said.

4-yr-old killed in LPG cylinder explosion

CHHINDWARA (MP): A four-year-old boy was on Sunday killed and five others were injured,four among them seriously,when an LPG cylinder exploded at a house after it caught fire at Sarna village near here,police said. The blaze started when someone threw an ignited match in petrol which started leaking from a motorcycle parked outside the house. The two-wheeler was gutted in fire,they said. The fire soon spread to the house and an LPG cylinder kept in the kitchen exploded killing Udit Vishwakarma,the police said.

Road mishaps: Six of family dead,MLA hurt

Shimla: Six members of a family,including two women,were killed and an MLA was injured in two separate accidents in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. A private car in which the family was travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Sangrah in Backward Shillai area in the district,killing them. In another incident,Renuka MLA Hriday Ram was injured when the vehicle in which he was travelling met with an accident Saturday night. He was returning from his constituency with his son when the accident took place.

Two trackmen run over by train

Araria (Bihar): Two trackmen,who were busy doing repair work,were on Sunday fatally run over by a passenger train in Bihar’s Araria district,officials said. Ramjatan Sharma and Ramkrishna Paswan were repairing the railway track when the speeding Katihar-Jogbani passenger train ran over them near Dhama village,Katihar GRP in-charge P Sarkar said. The bodies have been sent to hospital for post-mortem,he said.

Cops seize fake notes,trader held

LUCKNOW: The Sonbhadra police on Sunday arrested businessman Mohammad Ismail for allegedly attempting to purchase goods from a local market with counterfeit currency. The police seized fake notes with face value of Rs 21,000 from Ismail’s possession. The notes were in denominations of Rs 500. Police said Ismail was carrying notes worth Rs 7,9500.
