Kolkata: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday said the government is committed to capital adequacy in public sector banks to meet the latest Basel norms. “The aim is to meet Basel III guidelines,” Mukherjee said at the centenary celebration of the Punjab National Bank’s eastern region operation.

RINL and NBCC IPO possible by March-end

New Delhi: The government plans to come out with two initial public offers (RINL and NBCC) to raise about Rs 3,000 crore in the current fiscal itself as part of its efforts to garner funds. “We will file draft prospectus for NBCC IPO in 10-15 days. For RINL we have initiated the process to launch it before March end,” a finance ministry official said.

Datawind to push for ‘Made in India’ Aakash

New Delhi: The maker of the low-cost tablet Aakash,said it will request Human Resource Development Ministry to include Made in India clause in the proposed tender for the device. “We will make a request to the ministry that they should consider Made in India clause and encourage indigenous production,” Datawind CEO Sunit Singh Tuli said.

Freephoo to charge R4.50 per min for global calls

New Delhi: Sweden-based application company freephoo today said it will charge $0.089 ( around Rs 4.47) per minute for making calls anywhere in the world. Freephoo application allows users to make free calls from their iPhone and Android-based phones using WiFi or 3G to another freephoo user.

Plan panel to allocate R5k cr for civilian plane

New Delhi:Plan Panel is expected to allocate Rs 5,000 crore to develop a 90-seater passenger aircraft. “The Planning Commission is expected to sanction Rs 5,000 crore for the design and development phase of the project in the 12th Plan,” officials said.
