Less than 12 hours before the arrival of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a five-hour trip to Guwahati,train services in Assam came to a halt with the anti-talk faction of the ULFA,headed by Paresh Barua,triggering a powerful blast on the railway track in the Tinsukia-Simaluguri section on Thursday night.

While a pilot engine with security personnel narrowly escaped,a three-feet portion of the track was damaged,official sources said.

The PM is arriving at 10 am on Friday to attend the platinum jubilee function of the state Assembly. The anti-talk faction of ULFA has called a bandh on Friday and warned that it would carry out violent attacks.
