Accusing the government of “arrogance and intolerance” for disrupting L K Advani’s speech in the Lok Sabha Wednesday, the BJP attacked both PM Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.

“UPA has been an intolerant and arrogant government. They demonstrated it in Lok Sabha as well,” said former BJP chief Rajnath Singh.

The party objected to the PM terming Advani’s remark that the UPA-II government was “illegitimate” as “disgraceful and unfortunate”.

“The Congress chief disgracefully provoked treasury benches to disrupt proceedings… PM did not control his ministers behaving disgracefully. The government formed through cash-for-votes remains illegitimate. Advani stands by this position,” said Shahnawaz Hussain, asserting that the Congress objected to this remark as it touched a “raw nerve”.
