Terming the sentencing of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and others in a fodder scam case as an “important milestone” in the fight against corruption, the BJP Thursday said people want similar and expeditious trials in the CWG,2G and coal blocks allocation scams.

“When Lalu Prasad,Jagannath Mishra and others have been sentenced to prison in fodder scam case, people now want a fair investigation and expeditious trial in 2G,CWG and coal block allocation scams, which was patronised, promoted and protected by the political establishment of this UPA government. Such is the extent of these scams that the fodder scam pales in comparison,” BJP deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar made a similar demand, suggesting that the investigation needs to be expedited to restore people’s confidence in the system.

“Commonwealth Games,2G spectrum and coal allocation scams are cases of monumental corruption and people are waiting for results. Corruption cannot be the mainstay of politics,” Javadekar said.
