BJP expels 10 rebel leaders in Himachal

As the hill state gears up to vote,rebels within political parties,and not opponents,are proving to be difficult to handle. The BJP,which is facing challenges from its rebels in over 40 constituencies,Tuesday expelled 10 rebels including MLA Roop Singh Thakur.

The rebels despite warnings had refused to step back from contesting. Thakur is contesting from Sundernagar where the party has fielded a new face,Rakesh Jamwal. A six-time MLA,Thakur had also been the party’s disciplinary committee chairman. On Monday,senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar had warned the rebels they will be expelled and not suspended for six years. Meanwhile,the Himachal Lokhit Party,floated by dissident BJP leaders,have already fielded candidates in 36 seats.

Others expelled from the BJP include Kamla Patial,Capt Bhupendra Chauhan,Sudha Sushant,Sanjay Guleria from Jawali,Damodar Chauhan from Nachan,Hira Nand Kashyap from Solan,Mahant Ram Choudhary from Balh,Rajendra Rana from Sujanpur and Shyam Lal Thakur from Mandi.
