With an eye on the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS),which spearheaded the two month-long agitation over transfer of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB),have decided to start the agitation for seeking the withdrawal of Public Safety Act (PSA) against religious preacher Dinesh Bharti, and to end the discrimination with Jammu region.

SASS will mobilise its cadres for a protest on February 13 for the fulfillment of demands including the compensation to those who were killed in the agitation. “It will be a huge protest,” said SASS convenor Leela Karan Sharma.

State President of the BJP,Ashok Khajuria, said,“We are committed to lend our support to the cause of SASS.” However not all parties supporting the stir. President of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries,Ram Sahai, said,“A working committee meeting will be held to decide on the support of any strike or protest by the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samti.”

However President of Shiv Sena Hindustan,Dimpy Kohli, said, that there was no point in supporting any protest of the Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti. “Infact there is need that the SASS makes public the account of donations made by people during the agitation over transfer of land to SASB.”

However, the Vice President of Jammu Hotel Restaurant and Bar Association,Kuldeep Wahi, said that since the Government has not compensated the hotel industry for the losses suffered by it during the agitation, they have decided to support the protest of the SASS.
