* His family at Samhata village in Chhapra got belated confirmation about the tragedy. Singh was due to retire in two years. He had planned to settle in the village with wife and three children after retirement.

Lance Naik Shambhu Singh

* His family at Harnahi village in Bhojpur said they would continue to motivate youths to join defence services. The father of three daughters and a son,Shambhu would often talk about his Kashmir posting with pride.

Sepoy Raghunandan Prasad

* His family had been waiting for him to get married. “He loved challenges and said he wanted some more time to get married,” said his neighbour at Nautan village in Chhapra.

Sepoy Vijay Kumar Roy

* HE had left his Patna home on July 27 with the promise of returning home soon. His deputation to Danapur was cancelled as per the rules,he could not have been posted at his native place. After learning about his death,wife Pushpa found it hard to explain the tragedy to her five-year-old son.

Rs 10 lakh from Bihar CM

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of each of the four soldiers. A state funeral has been planned. PTI
