Congress president Sonia Gandhi was rushed to the cardio neuro centre of AIIMS Monday after she complained of chest pain and left Parliament before the Food Security Bill was put to vote.
AIIMS sources said Sonia was admitted a little before 9 pm,with complaints of fever for the last two days and dizziness, weakness, breathing difficulty and slight chest pain during proceedings of the Lok Sabha. They said specialists in general medicine, cardiology and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery were examining her and all reports appeared normal. Doctors were evaluating her medication history to check if her condition was a reaction to some drug she took for fever or viral infection.
The sources said Sonias blood pressure was found to be marginally low and she had moderately high fever. Although all routine blood tests were being done, her condition appeared to be stable.
Her admission is precautionary. She felt weak and dizzy in between the proceedings. After ignoring it for a while she decided to get herself examined. It appears she felt suddenly exhausted, and with a history of 2-3 days of fever, she was understandably worried, said a doctor.
Sonia was accompanied by Rahul Gandhi and union minister Kumari Selja. They were soon joined by Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra.
There is nothing to worry. She is completely fine, Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi was quoted as saying by PTI.
He said based on information available from doctors, some medicines Sonia had taken did not suit her and their reactions caused problems.
