There seems to be little respite for Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh as the Bombay High Court on Monday heard another contention in the PIL filed by five agriculturists from Latur who had challenged the allotment of land in Goregaon to filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International Private Ltd.

Rajendra Sontakke and four others, including Rahul Makanikar (32) who belongs to the NCP and is the district president for the Consumer Protection Cell at Latur, have also challenged the allotment of 2 lakh square metre of land belonging to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Latur to the Vilasrao Deshmukh Foundation for setting up an educational institution.

According to the petition, the land was allotted to the charitable trust while Deshmukh served as the chief minister. The allotment of land to the trust controlled by Deshmukh’s wife and son was done by the MIDC at the instance of the tainted minister for “illegal, malafide and corrupt considerations”,they have alleged. The case has been adjourned till April 23.
