Social activist Anna Hazare has no political inclination as being alleged, according to Team Anna member Kiran Bedi. “Anna does not have any political inclination, but we will oppose all those political parties that oppose the Jan Lokpal Bill,” said Bedi, who was in the city on Sunday to address a conference on women’s health, organised by the Pune and Maharashtra chapters of the Indian Medical Association.

“We have nothing against any political party. Our entire movement is apolitical,as is very clear now. What Anna has envisioned is a strong Jan Lokpal free of political and bureaucratic interference so that it can function independently,” said Bedi and explained that Anna’s differences with the government stemmed from the matter of including some government organs, like the CBI,in the Lokpal purview.

Bedi steered clear of naming any political party and tried to evade questions from the audience. Most of the questions asked by the crowd of about 400 doctors at the meet pertained to political parties and their varied responses to the Jan Lokpal Bill.
