A day after the parliamentary logjam took a turn for the worse due to proceedings in the Lok Sabha,Speaker Meira Kumar said on Wednesday that it is important to run the House and get financial business cleared during the session.

Kumar, who was talking to the media after unveiling a bust of K M Munshi at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, said,“It is important for the House to run, especially when it is the Budget Session,as we have to pass financial Bills, which is a constitutional requirement.” When asked if she had any plan to end the deadlock, she said,“I have been appealing to members to ensure that the House functions.” “I don’t want to discuss the matter in public,” Kumar said when asked about remarks by Sushma Swaraj that the BJP would boycott meetings convened by her.
