The Naxals attacked a CoBRA post in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night. A heavy firing followed and an entire village was caught in the crossfire. No casualty was reported.

“They took advantage of the villagers and we had to be cautious while retaliating as we did not want any casualties among them. There was indiscriminate firing from three sides,” said a CRPF official.

A high alert has been sounded in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh,Orissa,Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra after posters demanding the removal of an Army camp surfaced in Bastar district two days ago. “We have asked our men not to travel alone,” said P M Nair,Special DG (operations and works).
