Samajwadi Party state president Akhilesh Yadav today said the party had not taken any decision to induct BSP MLA D P Yadav,a historysheeter, who was known to have the support of his uncle Shivpal Yadav and the SP’s Muslim face Azam Khan.

While Shivpal said the party’s central leadership would take the final call,Khan today backtracked from his earlier statement that D P Yadav would join the SP.

Chief Minister Mayawati has denied a ticket to D P Yadav as part of her efforts to refurbish the party’s image.

D P Yadav and his wife Umlesh Yadav had won the 2007 Assembly elections from Sahaswan and Bisauli as candidates of their own Rashtriya Parivartan Dal which they later merged with the BSP. The Election Commission later disqualified Umlesh Yadav for sponsoring paid news.

This is the second time that Akhilesh has tried to assert his position in the party. Earlier, the induction of Hasanuddin Siddiqui, brother of BSP leader and PWD Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, had brought out the differences between Akhilesh and Shivpal.
