The SP leadership on Friday indicated that it was considering Akhilesh Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate.
SP leader and member of the partys apex decision making body Ram Gopal Yadav said,I would personally be very happy if Akhilesh is given the position of CM when the SP forms the government…Akhilesh has put in a lot of hard work into the partys election campaign… he must be rewarded for it.
His statement holds significance,as this is the first time that any member of partys top leadership has projected Akhilesh as the CM candidate even as party chief and three-time CM Mulayam Singh Yadav has maintained an ambiguity on the question.
Most party leaders have been maintaining that Mulayam would be the partys natural choice for the post. Even Akhilesh has said that Mulayam will be the chief minister in case the SP forms the government in UP.
BJP on revival path: Gadkari
Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawars vocal opposition to the proposed Food Security Bill on Friday found support from BJP president Nitin Gadkari. I agree with Sharad Pawars opposition.. We should follow the Chhattisgarh model, Gadkari said while interacting with members of the Indian Women Press Corps. The Chhattisgarh procurement and PDS policy has been acknowledged as a success story by many even in the government. On UP polls, the BJP president said while the party did not fare well in the previous elections and several people left the party then, this time a lot of efforts was made to revive the party. Sanjay Joshi,Narendra Tomar and Uma Bharti worked very hard for this revival, Gadkari said while refusing to name any chief ministerial candidate.
