At least six chief ministers will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Cabinet colleagues on March 14. While several national-level leaders will also be present,Punjab Congress president and former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal are not attending the ceremony to be held at the Banda Bahadur Memorial at Chappar Chiri near Mohali.
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Chouhan,Gujarat CM Narendra Modi,Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh,Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda,J&K CM Omar Abdullah and Himachal Pradesh CM Prem Kumar Dhumal have confirmed their participation,according to the Punjab CMO. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee are learnt to have congratulated Badal and assured him of sending their representatives. Bihar Rural Works Department Minister Bhim Singh will represent Nitish at the function. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa,too,is sending her representative.
Also joining the ceremony are former Haryana chief minister and INLD president Om Parkash Chautala,senior BJP leader L K Advani,Union ministers Farooq Abdullah,Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel and other BJP and NDA leaders.
The chief ministers of Goa,Orissa and Haryana,too,had been sent invitations but have not confirmed their participation yet.
