More than 3,300 flights were cancelled in four months from October 2011 to January 2012,with inclement weather being one of the major reasons.
“During the period of October 2011 to January 2012,total number of 3,309 flights were cancelled by scheduled airlines,” Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said today while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
Of all the cancellations,12.8 percent were due to technical reasons while 9.6 percent were because of operational reasons,he said.
Weather contributed to 33.6 percent of all flight cancellations during his period,he added.
Commercial reasons had led to cancellation of 6 per cent of flights while the other 38 percent cancellations had happened because of several miscellaneous reasons,Singh said.
