2 children killed in Mumbai as temple wall collapses

Two children were crushed under a temple wall that collapsed at Chembur on Sunday.

Two children were crushed under a temple wall that collapsed at Chembur on Sunday.

Govandi police received a call from locals at 2.45 pm informing them that the wall of Vishweshwara temple located close to Acharya College in Chembur had collapsed.

The police said the two deceased — Vishal Wagude (8) and Anjali Mhaske (7) — both residents of a slum colony nearby,were walking close to the wall when it collapsed. Anjali died on the spot while Vishal succumbed on the way to Shatabdi hospital in Govandi.

The police have registered a case against Dilip Patil and his wife Suvarna under IPC section 304 (II) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder as well as from other relevant sections for unauthorised construction. No arrests have been made so far.
